As usual, theaters being flooded with movie-goer and enthusiast. This week’s new release is ‘Half Girlfriend’ directed by Mohit Suri and ‘Hindi Medium’ directed by Saket Chaudhary, and both films performed averagely. Bahubali is still going strong which also is accounted reason causing low business for new releases.
Half Girlfriend, a romantic drama based on the novel titled by the same name written by Chetan Bhagat, was expected to be a crowd magnet. And also, since it is directed by Mohit Suri, who previously known for directing romantic films like Awarapan, Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villian, collectively raised hope for this film but it performing moderately, opened with 10.27 crores on Friday, 10.63 crores on Saturday, and 11.14crores on Sunday, making a weekend total of 32.04 crores in India.
Irrfan Khan Starrer ‘Hindi Medium,’ is a comedy drama, which depicts parent’s struggles to get their children getting the right education. Although, trade pundits didn’t expect to have a record-breaking opening but expected to earn its hit status. Despite being tax-free in Maharastra and Gujrat, the movie earned 2.8 crores on Friday, almost doubling to 4.25crores Saturday, and 5.50 crores on Sunday, making a weekend total of 12.56 crores on the domestic front.
