Aamir Khan's one film a year formula has apparently worked well for him and when there are technical traits of Rajkumar Hirani's smart direction and Abhijat Joshi's hilarious yet thoughtful screenplay, 'PK' has to be a sure shot hit. Let's check out, how well it has flared on its release day of December 19.
With Aamir's brand power and positive word of mouth, 'PK' witnessed the 98% occupancy right in its morning shows. Multiplexes of Mumbai, NCR, Bangalore and Pune experienced a strong footfall. Having a Rajasthani connection, the film performed well in Rajasthan solely contributing Rupees 1.40 Cr to the first day collection. Thanks of Aamir's Bhojpuri dialect which turned UP and Bihar crowd towards the theatres. Thus, 'PK' made the business of Rupees 26.63 Cr nett on it's opening day. It is expected to enter 100 Cr club over a weekend.
'PK' is a satirical take on religion and godmen, casting Anushka Sharma in the lead role.
