The opening day box-office collection contributes strongly to the fate of the film which, however, can be changed in the following weekend and the first week’s collection! It is crucial for any film to tap the audience in the initial days before another big release and, if the film is already competing with another adjacent release due to the Box-office clash, collections of both the films are naturally affected.
Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s Half Girlfriend and Irrfan Khan’s Hindi Medium witnessed a Box-office clash. The first-day box-office collections are out and one is a clear winner here! Half Girlfriend took a strong start with Rs. 10.27 crores at the box-office while Hindi Medium made Rs. 2.81 crores at the domestic markets. The irony is Arjun-Shraddha’s film received mixed reviews from the critics and the audience while Irrfan’s film garnered straight thumbs up from the one and all.
Directed by Mohit Suri, Half Girlfriend is adapted by Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name and, has a following of its own. The movie also features actors Vikrant Massey, Rhea Chakraborty among others.
Irrfan Khan’s Hindi Medium has a positive buzz and the collections are expected to rise up in the coming days. The satirical comedy-drama also stars Saba Qamar, Deepak Dobriyal, and Amrita Singh among others.
