Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer film 'Airlift' has witnessed a fantastic opening on its first day which was followed by a phenomenal jump in numbers during the weekend. The film raked in Rs 12.35 crores on Friday, Rs. 14.60 crores on Saturday, and Rs. 17.35 crores on Sunday. The total first weekend collection of the film stands at Rs. 44.30 crores at the domestic front which is huge! As, the film has been ideally released before the Republic Day, the thriller is set to profit from the extended weekend.
'Airlift' is based on the real life incident and narrates the story of an unsung hero who with his wit and courage managed to rescue more that 1 lakh 70 thousand Indians stranded in a war zone of 'Kuwait'. Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film also stars Purab Kohli. The thriller released along with Tusshar Kapoor and Aftab starrer 'Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3'.
