Sardar defeated Prince in their Diwali showdown in Kollywood, and Karthi's film has clearly won. Karthi owns 2022. The actor had three films come out in the space of three months, and all of them, including the most recent, Sardar, was financially successful. Sardar is slated to surpass Rs 50 crore at the box office, making it one of the two major Tamil films to be released around the Diwali holiday alongside Sivakarthikeyan's Prince. Trade analysts predict that the movie will accomplish its milestone today or tomorrow because it is generating strong interest in theatres all around Tamil Nadu.
With an upward trend, Sardar had a successful opening weekend at the box office, earning roughly Rs. 21 crores. The movie had a sluggish start on Friday, trailing Prince, but it improved significantly over the following two days, gaining the lead, and now it is well-positioned to benefit during the holiday season. 12.75 crores of the total were donated by Tamil Nadu, while roughly 6 crores were added by the Telugu states. The Telugu-speaking states, where Karthi has a sizable market, are also doing well with the PS Mithran-directed film. The movie made roughly Rs 7 crore in Kerala over the course of the last four days, and about Rs 17 crore in Telugu-speaking areas.
