Starring superstar Salman Khan in the lead role, Tubelight was one of the most awaited films of the year 2017. From fans to trade gurus, everyone was almost sure the film would go on to do exceptional business at the ticket window. Some even predicted that Tubelight, in all likelihood, would take the box office by storm and laid down the foundation of Rs. 400 crore club for a Hindi film. But crushing all hopes and expectations, Tubelight turned out to be a disaster for all the stakeholders. Collections of the film were so low that Salman Khan, who is also the producer of the film, had to come forward to bear the losses the distributors have incurred. However, the film is still running in a few cinemas and making some amount nothing to write home about.
Tubelight PosterReleased on 23rd June, Tubelight has just completed its third week of the run. During its third weekend, the film netted a negligible collection of Rs. 1.25 crores and now its grand total is pegged at Rs. 121.25 crores at the box office, which is too less for a film starring Salman Khan. Seeing its slow pace, it seems impossible for the film to even touch Rs. 130 crores mark, let alone creating any club.
Now, all eyes are fixed on Salman Khan’s upcoming film Tiger Zinda Hai, which also stars his ex-flame, Katrina Kaif. The film is a sequel to their previous blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger and is scheduled to release during Christmas festivities this year.
