‘Gumraah’, a crime thriller that debuted in theatres on Friday (April 7), is currently performing flat at the box office. The movie, which starred Mrunal Thakur and Aditya Roy Kapur in the key roles, opened to subdued box office results and earned only average reviews from reviewers.
For those who are unfamiliar, ‘Gumraah’ is the 2019 Tamil hit Thadam's Hindi version. Aditya has only achieved one successful lead performance in the eight years after Aashiqui 2 (his last appearance was in The Night Manager on Hotstar) (Malang).
Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur's movie ‘Gumraah’ earned favourable and unfavourable reviews. Its box office results, however, are pretty underwhelming. A source claims that on Friday, the first day of its release, the Vardhan Ketkar-directed movie ‘Gumraah,’ only made Rs 1.50 crore. The production of this movie cost 50 crores. ‘Gumraah’ earned Rs 1.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.10 crore on Friday, according to sources. Day 3, April 9, 2023, showed a further decline for the movie, which reportedly only brought in Rs 1.50 crore. As a result, its whole revenue presently stands at Rs 3.80 crore.

Vardhan Ketkar, a new director, directed ‘Gumraah’. The movie is made by Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. The movie opened in theatres on April 7, 2023. The criminal thriller is a Tamil film adaptation titled Thadam. Together with Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy, Aditya Roy Kapur also appears in the movie in a dual character. Gumraah's plot centres on sub-inspector Shivani Mathur, who is tasked with looking into a man's murder. She discovers two suspects who resemble each other but are unaware of one another. Shivani's situation worsens as she learns more details about the case. Songs for the movie were written by Mithoon, Vishal Mishra, Tanishk Bagchi, and Abhijit Vaghani.
