Since it opened in theatres, the eagerly awaited film Drishyam 2 has been making waves at the box office. The Malayalam film's Hindi adaptation, which stars Mohanlal, has performed remarkably well at the box office. The ensemble cast of Abhishek Pathak's film, which stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Akshaye Khanna among others in key roles, is having a dream run at the box office on Day 4.
When the first chapter of the movie was released in 2015, it was favourably welcomed by critics and viewers and brought in more than Rs 110.40 crore at the box office globally. Taking things up a notch, it appears that the sequel will earn more than the debut film, according to the most recent press reports.
It has been four days after the movie's release, and its opening weekend box office haul was Rs 64.14. According to the most recent report, Drishyam 2 had packed houses and sold out tickets on Monday, bringing the overall box office haul to between Rs. 10.75 and Rs. 11-75 crore.
Taran Adarsh, a film critic and Bollywood trade analyst, tweeted, “#Drishyam2 ends *Weekend 1* with a BIG BANG… Creates HAVOC on Day 3… Reboots and revives biz… Brings JOY, HOPE, CONFIDENCE, OPTIMISM back... Targets ₹ 100 cr in *Week 1*… This one’s a SMASH-HIT."
However, Drishyam 2 made Rs 27 Crores on Sunday, surpassing the opening weekend figures for well-liked movies from this year like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
Returning to the movie, Abhishek Pathak's Drishyam 2, stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role and also has Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta in significant supporting parts. The sequel to the original movie centres on Tabu's character, who has now left the police department, seeking revenge on Ajay Devgn's character, the movie's main character. On November 18, the motion picture was made available in theatres.
