Last Friday (April 29), two big ticket Bollywood films viz. Runway 34 (starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and Amitabh Bachchan) and Heropanti 2 (starring Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui) released in theatres. Both the film had a good start opened up well, despite the fact that Yash starrer 'KGF Chapter 2' is still going strong at the box office.
So far, the run of both the films can be considered fairly well as far as box office numbers are concerned. However, Runway 34 witnessed a massive jump in collections in comparison to Heropanti 2, which is also running decently at the box office.
Talking of collections, Heropanti 2 had a great debut weekend at the box office. The action film grossed between Rs 6.25 crore and Rs 6.50 crore, according to a report by Box Office India. On Saturday, the film grossed approximately Rs 5 crore.
On the other hand, collection of Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet starrer Runway 34 on the opening day remained really low as the film earned 3 crore nett. However, the figure jumped by almost 60 percent on Saturday with approximate collection of Rs 5.25 crore.
For starters, Runway 34 is a thriller directed and produced by Ajay Devgn under his banner Ajay Devgn FFilms. The film features Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh with Boman Irani, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh playing pivotal roles.
The movie is inspired by the true event of the Jet Airways Doha to Kochi flight 9W 555, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft that had a narrow escape on 18 August 2015, after facing difficulties to land at the Cochin International Airport due to bad weather and unclear visibility at 5:45 am in the morning.
Heropanti 2 is a sequel to the 2014 film Heropanti. The film is directed by Ahmed Khan, written by Rajat Arora and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It stars Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tara Sutaria in leading roles.
The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Zakir Hussain and Amrita Singh in other pivotal roles, with Kriti Sanon doing a cameo.
