In the first week of their release, Heropanti 2 (2022) starring Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Runway 34 (2022) featuring Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh are struggling to maintain their hold over box office. Both the films, which released on the same day (29 April 2022) are struggling to rake in the moolah, as Yash starrer KGF Chapter 2 continues its unabated run at the theatres.
While Heropanti 2 collected approximately Rs 7 crore on the opening day, the daily collection of the film has been on a decline ever since. Coming to Ajay Devgn's Runway 34, the movie has been slowly and steadily moving ahead however the collection figures are still in single digits.
Furthermore, Heropanti 2 has witnessed a drop of around 85% while Runway 34 registered a drop of 20-25% as compared to Friday. The former is expected to earn Rs 1 crore by Eid while the latter might collect around Rs 2.5 crore.
"The huge drop in the collections of Heropanti 2 will make the Runway 34 figures look better but its not about being better than the other film but actually doing well. There is the big Eid holiday tomorrow which would have helped today especially in the evening but as the drop for Runway 34 is similar to KGF 2 that can be called a minor achievement for the film," a report by BoxOfficeIndia states.
For starters, Heropanti 2 is a sequel to the 2014 film Heropanti. The film is directed by Ahmed Khan, written by Rajat Arora and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It stars Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tara Sutaria in leading roles.
The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Zakir Hussain and Amrita Singh in other pivotal roles, with Kriti Sanon doing a cameo.
On the other hand, Runway 34 is a thriller directed and produced by Ajay Devgn under his banner Ajay Devgn FFilms. The film features Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh with Boman Irani, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh playing pivotal roles.
The movie is inspired by the true event of the Jet Airways Doha to Kochi flight 9W 555, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft that had a narrow escape on 18 August 2015, after facing difficulties to land at the Cochin International Airport due to bad weather and unclear visibility at 5:45 am in the morning.
