Box Office: Jersey fails to create magic, overshadowed by KGF Chapter 2
Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer sports drama Jersey (2022), whose release was pushed from April 14, 2022 to April 22, 2022 in order to avoid clash with KGF Chapter 2, has failed to create magic at the box office.
Jersey's box office collection aren't really impressive and the film has been overshadowed by Kannada superstar Yash's KGF Chapter 2 which continues its run towards Rs 1,000 crore club in the second week.
Coming to Jersey, the film collected close to Rs 14 crore at the box office over the weekend. On the other hand, KGF Chapter 2 minted close to Rs 50 crore over the weekend.
As per trade analysts, the stupendous success of KGF: Chapter 2 seems to have eclipsed the prospects of Jersey. However, when it comes to critical acclaim, Jersey generally received positive reviews with several film critics praising Shahid Kapoor’s fine performance in the sports film.
KGF Chapter 2, on the other hand, has received mixed reviews from the critics, with Srivatsan S. of 'The Hindu' labelling the film a "festival of male toxicity."
