The box office is being dominated by South Indian cinema. Three of the four major south Indian movies—Varisu, Thunivu, Veera Simha Reddy, and Waltair Veerayya—have surpassed the 100 crores mark. Thalapathy Vijay has another weekend, another reason to rejoice. Sunday also provided good news for the Ajith Kumar starrer, despite Saturday's less-than-ideal performance. Varisu is soon to gross Rs 150 Cr at the Indian box office. The box office performance of the Tamil film Thunivu has slowed down whereas Vijay's film Varisu has maintained momentum.
Varisu
At the box office, Vijay's movie is doing incredibly well. The movie is reaching the Rs 150 Cr milestone in India after joining the Rs 100 Cr club. Varisu made around Rs 8 cr on the 12th day after its release, according to early trading figures. As a result, the movie's overall earnings have increased to at least Rs 149 Cr.
Thunivu
On the other hand, Ajith's movie is at a slow pace. According to estimates, the Tamil film made Rs 4 Cr on day 12, which is less than half of what Varisu made on the same day. The movie has made over Rs 100 Cr and has a total of Rs 105 Cr, although it is still far behind Varisu in terms of revenue. It will be extremely tough for the movie to match the collections of Varisu with the collections declining.
As another chance to make a tonne of money, both movies must now continue to play until the Republic Day holiday.
