Black Panther: Wakanda Forever BO 2nd Week: globally collects $500 Million, 7th biggest film 2022

Despite receiving mixed reviews, Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" has surpassed the legendary $500 million mark at the global box office. The movie is the second entry in the "Black Panther" superhero franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The MCU movie has exceeded the $500 million milestone at the box office in less than two weeks, according to a report in the American daily Box Office Mojo. The current gross revenue for "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever"

$546 million. The movie is currently approaching the 1 billion mark globally.

"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" premiered in theatres all across the world on November 11, 2022.

Along with Florence Kasumba, Lupita Nyong'o, Martin Freeman, Tenoch Huerta, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli, the movie also stars Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, and Winston Duke.

Lead actress Lupita Nyong'o discussed how "Black Panther" altered people's perspectives of Africa in an interview with Reuters, "Embracing the diversity that is African culture has resulted in other people embracing their indigenous cultures as well."

She said, "We are celebrating our culture, we are celebrating where we are from in a way that is extremely inclusive." Lupita’s co-star Florence Kasumba said, "I would have needed that movie as a child because there are not so many role models."

Notably, "Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman's unexpected death in 2020 led to the director Ryan Coogler abandoning the proposed sequel script. The actor lost his fight against intestinal cancer.

The focus of the film shifted from T'Challa lamenting lost time after "the blip" to Wakanda mourning their leader. The director discussed his desire to give up filmmaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly following the death of actor and friend Chadwick Boseman.

Director said, "I was at a point when I was like, 'I'm walking away from this business. I didn't know if I could make another movie period or another 'Black Panther' movie, because it hurt a lot. I was like, 'Man, how could I open myself up to feeling like this again?”
