Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 becomes Kartik’s biggest opener; Kangana’s Dhaakad gets a dull start

After a long period of lull which saw many big ticket Hindi films falling flat at the box office, Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani-starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022) has ushered in new hopes for the Hindi film industry. The advance booking of tickets for the film registered the best pre-release numbers ever since the Covid-19 pandemic, with collections surpassing Rs 8 crore advance ticket sales of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's 83 which released in 2021.

Early estimates of the film boast gross earnings of 14.11 crore. The film has become Aaryan's biggest opener.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced the update on Twitter. He wrote, "#BhoolBhulaiyaa2 brings JOY, gives HOPE, boosts MORALE, revives BIZ... Noteworthy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which also stars Tabu and Rajpal Yadav in key roles, is putting up a tough fight against Kangana Ranaut's Dhaakad which was released on the same day. However, Dhaakad had an extremely dull start at the ticket windows and it will be lucky to even go above a collection of 1 crore nett on day 1.

The film, which also stars Divya Dutta and Arjun Rampal, released in 2,200 screens across the nation. Despite Kangana’s presence, the film has received a poor response with occupancy in lower single digits for morning shows. The action flick has failed to see an increase in numbers in the evening and night shows as well.

As per reports, Dhaakad minted an opening in the range of Rs 1-2 crore. The film has failed to garner positive word of mouth as well and the week ahead does not seem very hopeful in terms of box office numbers.
