Director James Cameron's 'Avatar: The Way of Water' is all set to bag the coveted spot of being the highest grossing Hollywood film in India.
As per reports, the film has grossed the Rs 300 crore mark in India and is going strong at the domestic box office.
Avatar 2 has minted Rs 300 crore nett, taking into consideration the collection on Friday (December 30). The fantasy film has grossed approximately Rs 100 crore from the Telugu states only.
Trade pundits are of the opinion that box office numbers for the film will be on the same line today and tomorrow. The magnum opus has already breached the $1 billion mark at the global box office, picking up a great pace since the Christmas holidays.
Produced by Lightstorm Entertainment and TSG Entertainment and distributed by 20th Century Studios, 'Avatar: The Way Of Water' is the sequel to Avatar (2009) and the second installment in the Avatar film series.
Starcast of the film includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, and Matt Gerald reprise their roles from the original film, with Sigourney Weaver returning in an additional role.
New actors in the sequel include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, and Jemaine Clement.
With an estimated budget of $350–460 million, it is one of the most expensive films ever made.
Storyline of Avatar 2 follows Na'vi Jake Sully (played by Worthington) and his family, who under renewed human threat, seek refuge with the Metkayina clan of Pandora.
