Actor Shahid Kapoor is looking forward to his next release titled Jersey (2022). A sports based drama, the film was supposed to release in theatres on April 14, but has now been postponed to April 22 in order to avoid clash with Thalapathy Vijay's Beast and Yash's KGF: Chapter 2.

Recently in a promotional interview for Jersey, Shahid opened up about doing good films with good content, irrespective of all other factors.

"I do feel within the Hindi film industry, we are struggling to find good stories. It is important to recognise the fact that today a real star or superstar or someone who is widely connecting with people would be the kind of person, who collaborates with the right kind of content creators," the Ishq Vishk (2003) actor said.

Appreciating the younger generation and their cinematic sensibilities, Shahid says, "The youngsters, who form a major chunk of audiences today, are no more running after things that we think they love. They are very well-informed, experienced and appreciate good content without any filters. It doesn't matter if it is OTT or mainstream or Bollywood or a regional film, for them good cinema is a good cinema."

The actor also refuted claims that the release of KGF Chapter 2 will have an adverse impact over Jersey's box office performance. "KGF 2 and Jersey are from two different genres. While the former is an out-and-out action packed entertainer, the latter is more of a family-oriented, relationship-based, emotional sports film. The audiences for the two films are also different and there's ample scope for both the releases to do well," Shahid said.

"I am very proud of Jersey. It's a film that is very close to my heart. If Jersey can make people feel the way I felt, it will give them a lot of hope. When I saw the film, it made me feel that I can chase my dreams," he added.

For starters, Jersey is a remake of the Telugu film of the same name featuring Nani and Shraddha Srinath. It is helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who had also directed the original.

Also starting Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor, Jersey will release on April 22, 2022.
