Ranbir Kapoor, who is often called one of the best actors of his age, has left an indelible mark on the movie business. His reputation as a serious actor was confirmed by his great work in the 2012 movie 'Barfi'. But behind the scenes, there's an interesting story that not many people know about Ranbir Kapoor and director Anurag Basu made a bet that changed Kapoor's life and made him quit smoking.

Ranbir Kapoor played a mute person in a movie with Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz, which brought him a lot of praise for his playing skills. 'Barfi' was a major turning point in both Kapoor and Chopra's lives and earned them a lot of praise.

Reports from 2012, said that Anurag Basu told Ranbir Kapoor many times to stop smoking while the movie was being made, but it didn't work. So, they made a bet: if 'Barfi' made more than 70 crores at the box office, Kapoor would have to quit smoking.

Anurag Basu was lucky, because the movie did better than expected and made over 75 crore. 'Barfi's success at the Indian box office, where it made a total of 120 crores, made it clear that it was a victory. Ranbir Kapoor kept his word and sent Anurag Basu a message to say that he lost the bet and that he was going to quit smoking.

But it's important to note that Ranbir's resolve wavered briefly in 2017 when he was seen smoking with 'Raees' star Mahira Khan in New York City. These pictures that went viral showed the actor in a short moment of weakness. Still, this interesting story about Ranbir and his connection to 'Barfi' adds a new and interesting twist to his journey.

After Barfi, Kapoor and Basu worked together again on 'Jagga Jasoos,' but the movie didn't do as well at the box office. Ranbir Kapoor has stayed a big name in the industry despite this setback. People liked him in 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar', which he did with Shraddha Kapoor, and they can't wait for his next movie, 'Animal', which will come out this year and will be directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
