Vijay Deverakonda reveals his mom did 'puja' as she was worried of him fighting Mike Tyson in Liger
Vijay Deverakonda is all set to make a mark in Bollywood with his upcoming film Liger. The film also stars Bollywood actress Ananya Panday and former boxing champion Mike Tyson. At the Hindi version of Liger's trailer launch on Thursday in Mumbai, the Arjun Reddy (2017) actor disclosed that while he was excited to work with the heavyweight champion, his mother was just as anxious.
Deverakonda shared an incident and said, “She did lots of pujas and put vibhuti (sacred ash) and kumkum (turmeric powder) on me before I left for the USA. I’m fine now and her pujas did really work (laughs).”
One of Liger's producers, Charmme Kaur, also claimed that the actor's mother only breathed with relief after watching a video of them having fun on the film's set. She said, “She kept telling him, ‘It’s Mike Tyson! Be careful’. She calls him Chinnu. She called me up millions of times and told me to take care of her Chinnu. Once they started shooting, I sent her videos of how they were chilling together and laughing as if they were childhood friends.”
Puri Jagannadh is Liger's director, and Karan Johar is the producer. Following several Covid-19-related setbacks, the film is now scheduled to release in theatres on August 25, 2022.
