Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah have been giving interviews for their OTT series Jalsa which is releasing on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow. In one of the interviews both the actresses spoke about the reason behind not working with their producer-husbands frequently.

Vidya Balan got married to the industry’s well-known producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, she says that both of them decided to never work together after the film Ghanchakker. In conversation with Anupama Chopra, Vidya says that after their film Ghanchakker did not do well they both were depressed and that is when the Parineeta actress decided that if one of them is experiencing a lull, the other must be the pillar.

She also said that in terms of money, she would always compare how much is the co-actor being offered. She further says, “I’ll start comparing how much he is paying another actor vs how much he is paying me. If he is paying another actor more, I’ll hate it. I want to be the most valued in his eyes.”

Well it's not only about money says Vidya Balan, she also does not want everyone to think that she is getting the roles and money just because she is Siddharth Roy Kapur’s wife. Furthermore, she adds that “ I also think that I don’t want anyone to reduce my achievements to saying this happened for you because of your husband because one has worked very hard to get here and as much as I love him, I don’t want that to happen for either of us. It’s very reductive in a lot of ways. People say na aapka toh production house hai na and I say mere pati ka hai, mera nahi hai, fark hai. They don’t understand it.”

When Shefali Shah was asked the same question as Vidya Balan, she said that she worked with her husband Vipul Shah, in the film Waqt and web series Human. She further adds that Vipul Shah’s films are very different from what we see in the industry. She further says that “I genuinely believe that Vipul’s films alter the lives of all of us, the entire family. And his cinema is very different from what I have done so far. Humans were where we kind of.. (we met). He will never offer me something if he doesn’t think it’s not worth it and I have never asked him to do anything for me because like I said, it’s much bigger than me just getting a role, his film is much bigger. And it is of far more value to the entire family, than just me.”

Jalsa is releasing on, Amazon Prime Video on 18th March 2022.
