After Pathaan, Laal Singh Chaddha, Vikram Vedha, Brahmastra and Darlings, Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday's Liger is the latest to fall prey to boycott trends and hate campaigns initiated by trolls on Twitter.
A section of Twitter users are demanding a boycott of Liger for several reasons, the biggest one being Vijay Deverakonda’s statement in support of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan's recently released fim Laal Singh Chaddha.
Vijay, at a recent event, had come out in support of Aamir Khan and Laal Singh Chaddha. He also spoke against the boycott culture and how harmful its impact it. This has led to boycott demands of his film Liger, which is scheduled to release on August 25.
Noteworthy, a section of netizens are also attacking the film as it is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. They are demanding a boycott of Liger as for them, the movie is indirectly associated with 'Bollywood Mafias' like Salman Khan and KJo and features a star-kid Ananya Panday.
Along with #BoycottLiger, the trolls have also been promoting #BoycottBollywood on Twitter off lately.
Written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger features Vijay Deverakonda as a kickboxer who stutters. Also starting Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy in supporting roles, the action drama will released on 25 August 2022 in Hindi and Telugu along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
