The Kashmir Files (2022), directed by Vivek Agnihotri, was supposed to hit theatres today. However, it appears that the picture has met a hitch just hours before its scheduled release.

Shalini Khanna, the wife of Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna, claims that the movie portrays her husband incorrectly. On March 4, she saw the film at its special premiere.

On Thursday, a court in Jammu and Kashmir ordered that portions representing late IAF Squadron Leader Ravi Kanna not be included in the film The Kashmir Files, which would be released on Friday. The order came when Shalini Khanna, the Indian Air Force officer's wife, petitioned the court to have sequences showing her husband removed or amended, arguing they were inaccurate.

Ravi Khanna was one of four IAF personnel killed in Srinagar on January 25, 1990, allegedly by a gang commanded by Yasin Malik, the leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).

Shalini revealed that she had spoken about her dissatisfaction with the film on stage shortly after the premiere. She said, however, that the producers ignored her concerns. Shalini went to court when the producers refused to respond.

In the order, Deepak Sethi, Additional District Judge in Jammu, stated, "Given the facts as stated in the plaint the defendants are restrained by way of temporary injunction from showing the scenes depicting the acts pertaining to the husband of the plaintiff namely martyr squadron leader Ravi Kanna in the movie The Kashmir Files."

The court went on to say that if no relief is provided to the applicant without first giving notice of the application on the defendants, the applicant's claim will become infructuous and, as a result, will be defeated by delay.

The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar and others in crucial roles and is based on the evacuation of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley.
