Several high-profile Bollywood celebrities have battled COVID-19 ever since the pandemic started in early 2020. The reigning queen of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone also contracted the virus last year at the same time as the rest of her family.

The Padmaavat (2018) star recently opened up about how she dealt with the virus and how life changed for her after she contracted it. “Life after COVID changed for me because physically, I was completely unrecognizable. I think due to the medication I was given, the steroids that I was put on,” she said.

The actress went on to add, “So COVID in itself was weird. Your body feels different, your mind feels different. I felt that when I had the illness, it was still okay but after that, I needed to take two months off work because my mind was not working. The phase for me was very, very difficult.”

On the work front, Deepika Padukone has a number of projects in the pipeline. She is currently gearing up for the release of Dharma Productions’ Gehraiyaan which is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 11. The Shakun Batra directorial also features Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday on the primary cast.
