Kunal Nayyar received harsh criticism from Jaya Bachchan for his portrayal of Madhuri Dixit in 'The Big Bang Theory'.
Jaya Bachchan criticised Kunal Nayyar, saying "he needs to be sent to mental asylum," after political analyst Mithun Vijay Kumar sent Netflix a legal notice regarding one of the episodes of its famous show "The Big Bang Theory" for having disparaging dialogue about Madhuri Dixit. Jim Parsons, who portrays Sheldon Cooper, compared Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit in the first episode of the second season of The Big Bang Theory. He described Aishwarya as "a poor man's Madhuri Dixit" at a certain moment. Kunal Nayyar's portrayal of Raj Koothrapalli responds by saying, “Aishwarya Rai is a goddess, by comparison, Madhuri Dixit is a leprous prostitute."

An enraged Jaya Bachchan responded to this by asking, "Is this man (Kunal Nayyar) insane? Badi gandi zubaan hai. He needs to be sent to a mental asylum. His family should be asked what they think of his comment."
Political analyst Mithun Vijay Kumar has requested that the streamer remove the second season's first show where the comparison was made in the legal notice. Kumar emphasised that the character's comments are both insulting and defamatory. He has threatened legal action against the streamer unless they take down the offending show for encouraging discrimination against women. The legal notice has been delivered to the Mumbai headquarters of Netflix.
"It is important to hold companies like Netflix accountable for their actions and to ensure that they are sensitive to the cultural values and sentiments of the communities they serve. I was deeply troubled by the use of a derogatory term in one of the shows on Netflix - Big Bang Theory. This term was used in reference to the acclaimed actress Madhuri Dixit, and it was not only offensive and deeply hurtful but also showed a lack of regard for her dignity," Kumar said in a statement.
