Archie Andrews and his buddies are making a comeback, but with a twist, for all the kids who grew up in the 1990s. The Archies universe will be adapted into an Indian film directed by Zoya Akhtar. Agastya Nanda, Amitabh Bachchan's grandson, Suhana Khan, Shah Rukh Khan's daughter, and Khushi Kapoor, Sridevi's daughter will be making their acting debuts in the Zoya Akhtar film. Netflix released the first teaser for the film on Saturday.
Sharing the teaser on Instagram, Netflix India wrote in the caption, The sun is out, the news is out! Come and meet your new friends. Presenting to you the cast of The Archies, directed by the fantastic Zoya Akhtar.”
All three star kids have distinct differences from their comic book counterparts. Suhana, like Veronica, has long black hair, whereas Khushi has bangs. Agastya didn't have Archie's iconic red hair, but his tresses appeared to be curled in the character's style with a subtle red tinge.
Apart from the star kids, Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Vedang Raina, and Yuvraj Menda also star in the film.
Archie Andrews and his gang, which includes Veronica, Betty, Jughead, and Reggie, have been immortalized in a number of cinematic and animation adaptations. Archie Andrews first appeared in the Pep Comics and quickly rose to fame as a stand-alone character in popular culture. We're excited to see what the series' Indian adaptation has in store.
The Archies is set to stream on Netflix in 2023.
