The nominations for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne's annual awards ceremony have been announced, and among the notable films on the list are Suriya's Jai Bhim (2021), Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), Ranveer Singh's '83 (2021) and Minnal Murali (2021), among others. The yearly festival, which is sponsored by the Victorian Government, is held in Melbourne, Australia, and features the top feature films from India and the subcontinent.
The 13th edition of the IFFM 2022, which will take place this month, marks the festival's return to a physical format after two years of only being accessible online. This year's festival runs from August 12 - 20 in lessons and will also have virtual programming for Australian audiences from August 13 - 30. The festival is screening more than 100 films this year in 23 different languages.
On August 14th, in Melbourne, the Awards night is scheduled to take place. The accolades will honour the acclaimed OTT series in addition to the top feature film talent from the entire Indian subcontinent. Films and other media that were released between August 2021 and April 2022 are included in this year's nominations.
The jury for the festival this year comprises people including multi-award winning director Geoffrey Wright, multi-award winning producer Nadia Tass, and internationally recognised actors Vince Colosimo and Jill Bilcock.
