Multi-lingual epic saga RRR (2022), which opened to packed theaters on March 25, has already shattered box office records. Made on a budget of ₹550 crore (US$72 million), the period saga has already grossed over ₹700 crore (US$92 million) worldwide as on April 01, 2022.
While Alia Bhatt (who played Sita in RRR) has been receiving appreciation for her lively performance characterized by a "rare mix of innocence and jaw clenching seething anger", British actress Olivia Morris is also winning heart for her earnest portrayal of Jennifer (Jr NTR’s English lady love) in the movie.
However, not many know that these actresses were not the original choices for the female characters in RRR. Several Bollywood actresses were approached by the makers for these roles, which were eventually bagged by Ali and Olivia. Here are some of the divas who couldn’t bag the coveted project RRR due to multifarious reasons:
Shraddha Kapoor:
The Aashiqui 2 (2013) actress was offered the role of Sita in RRR but she couldn’t sign the dotted lines due to date issues and commitment to other projects.
Amy Jackson:
British actress and model Amy Jackson was reportedly approached for the role of Jr NTR’s love interest in RRR. However, Amy was pregnant at that time and unfortunately couldn’t come onboard.
Parineeti Chopra:
Parineeti, who was recently appeared in critically acclaimed films like Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (2022) and The Girl On The Train (2022), was reportedly offered the leading lady’s role in RRR as Alia's date calendar was choc-a-bloc. Though Parineeti never confirmed the news, the makers again approached Alia who, interestingly, gave her nod this time.
Isabelle Kaif:
An insider close to the movie has revealed that Katrina Kaif's younger sister Isabelle Kaif was offered the role of the foreigner, who is seen as Jr NTR's love interest in the film. The actress refused to do the film because she wanted the script and details of the movie.
Daisy Edgar Jones:
English actress Daisy Edgar Jones, best known for her role as Marianne Sheridan in the miniseries Normal People, was also approached for Jennifer's role in RRR. Unfortunately, Daisy failed to do the film due to unavoidable circumstances.
