Filming for Karan Johar’s much-anticipated directorial venture Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani has been put on hold after veteran actress Jaya Bachchan tested positive for COVID-19 hours after her co-star Shabana Azmi also announced her diagnosis.
Jaya Bachchan remained safe from the virus when it hit her entire family, including husband Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Bachchan, in 2020.
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt as the lead pair, features Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan in pivotal roles. Since both veteran actresses are down with the virus, the team has decided to postpone the Delhi schedule of the film.
Sharing more details, a source in the know informs a publication, “The shooting schedule for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani was to begin on 2 February and end on 14 February. First Shabana Azmi tested positive and now Jaya Bachchan. Karan has now called off the schedule. He does not want to take a risk with the rest of the cast and crew.”
In addition to Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani also features megastar Dharmendra in an important role. The film marks Johar’s return to direction after a long gap of six years. He last helmed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).
