The makers of the forthcoming sports drama Jersey have decided to postpone the theatrical release of the film after some restrictions came into effect due to fears over the Omicron variant of coronavirus. The film stars Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles.

“In view of the current circumstances and new COVID guidelines, we have decided to postpone the theatrical release of our film Jersey. We have received immense love from you all so far and want to thank you all for everything. Until then, everyone please stay safe and healthy, and wishing you all the best for the new year ahead,” read the statement issued by the makers of the film.

Jersey was set to enter theaters on December 31, 2021. But with COVID-19 and Omicron cases rising rapidly in the country, certain states have already started imposing restrictions on the places of public gatherings such as theaters, spas, gyms, etc. Keeping the current situation in mind, the makers of Jersey have decided against releasing the film on December 31.
