It goes without saying that Bollywood has made biopics one of its preferred genres. Although there is no secret to success, a slew of biographical stories from the past few years have frequently made the ticket counters ring. And now, producers Anjum Rizvi, Raghavendra N, and Riju Bajaj have teamed up to direct Jai Hind, a global feature film and a biography on the life of Dr. Chempakaraman Pillai, a political leader and rebel who originated the phrase "Jai Hind."
While the cast has not yet been revealed by the producers, it has been rumoured that three well-known actors are now vying for the lead part. According to a source close to the project, Dr. Pillai's role is now being considered for Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, and Arjun Kapoor.
The source stated, “Often, we see filmmakers involved in big-budget productions trying to zero down on Bollywood’s famous trio – Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Aamir Khan – to play the protagonist in their films considering their box office standing.”
“But in the case of Jai Hind, it’s probably going to be a clash between the Kapoors. All these actors are known for their gritty performances. They have also been seen playing strong characters very well,” he added further.
Rajesh Touchriver, who will also serve as the film's director, wrote Jai Hind, which is based on actual events from India's freedom movement. The movie will be produced in English and released in Hindi and Tamil as well.
