Bollywood was carefree during its pre-technical era where everyone was comfortable expressing their opinions and expertise about everything without fear of judgement, whether they were correct or wrong.

They could only communicate with the public through journals, therefore nothing they said was ever criticised by others. Sanjay Dutt made one such remark at that time which needed to be called out!

Wondering what are we talking about? Read on…

Sanjay, who played Shuddh Singh in the film 'Shamshera' spoke about his views on women who indulged in skin show on the big screen.

He said, “To reach a level, you can do anything. So if you want to be on the top, you may as well sleep with the top guy. I’ll give you an example. I won’t name the actress. But she did do a scene where she exposed her br*asts. She had just walked out of the premiere of the film, and there were these guys who touched her there. She did make a big scene about it, but they just turned around and said that why the hell did you show it to us on the screen? Why did you take your clothes off? It’s ours’!”

Well, yeah, this has happened in Bollywood before.

The phrase ‘ladkiyaan khuli tojori ki tarah hoti hain’ seems to have lost meaning in today’s time but seems like it was taken quite seriously by Dutt then.

It was once again in 1993, in an interview with Cine Blitz that was later made available by popular news portals, Sanjay Dutt offered his opinion on women who are exposed in the workplace and on television.

He stated, “Of course, a beautiful woman gets her way more than a man. A man has to struggle harder, it’s more difficult for him in the world. If a girl is gorgeous, it’s well… I’m not saying it isn’t as difficult for a girl out there, but she gets her way easier.”

But when the actor continued, the dialogue took a strange turn, “You’ve got to love yourself to respect yourself, and for others to respect you as well! If you don’t do that, then accept the consequences.”

It is at that time that the perplexed interviewer questioned Dutt, “You mean to say a woman who exposes does not love and respect herself?”

Furthermore, the interviewer even called out to Dutt for making odd comments regarding women in the profession!
