India is commemorating its 75th year of independence. India achieved independence from colonial rule on August 15, 1947, following 200 years of brutality and oppression at the hands of the British. The Prime Minister speaks at the Red Fort and raises the flag on this day as well. Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, established the custom in 1947 by hoisting the national flag above the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi.

Celebrities from the Bollywood industry have flooded social media with tributes in honour of India's Independence Day. Salman Khan shared a post on Instagram wishing everyone on this historic occasion. In a picture that the Dabangg (2010) actor shared, he can be seen holding the Indian flag in his hands as he poses with Indian Navy officers. Sharing the picture, Khan captioned, "Wishing everyone a very happy 75th Independence Day (75 years of Independence).. Jai Hind."

Salman took a day off from work a couple of days ago to visit the sailors in Visakhapatnam. Salman spent a fun-filled day with the Indian Navy personnel, learning about their lives, training, time away from loved ones, viewing the cutting-edge ship, cooking on board, participating in push-up contests, signing autographs, and hoisting the Indian flag.
