Saawan Kumar Tak, who directed movies like Sanam Bewafa (1991), Souten (1983), and Sajan Bina Suhagan (1978) is no more. Today, the director, producer, writer, and lyricist passed away at a Mumbai hospital. He was 86. After experiencing heart failure and having lung-related conditions, he was brought to the hospital.
According to reports, he passed away at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai around 4 p.m. today. His final film to be directed was 2006's Sawan: The Love Season, which starred Salman Khan. Salman Khan also paid tribute to the director on his social media accounts. Sharing a picture of himself with the late filmmaker, Khan wrote on Twitter, “May u rest in peace my dear Sawaan ji. Have always loved n respected u.”
The director was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital's intensive care unit, according to his nephew Navin Kumar Tak, who further stated, “He was admitted to the hospital a few days ago. He’s had a history of lung-related ailments, but this time he’s serious and his heart is not in a good condition. We are asking the fans and followers for their prayers so that uncle can pull through this difficult time."
With the 1967 movie Naunihal, Saawan Kumar Tak launched his career as a producer in the entertainment business. Sanjeev Kumar played the lead in the movie, which also made him a household name in Hindi cinema and won universal acclaim. The film had been given a Presidential mention at that year's National Film Awards.
