Ranbir Kapoor is presently promoting his late father Rishi Kapoor's final film, Sharmaji Namkeen (2022). The actor, along with director Hitesh Bhatia and producer Ritesh Sidhwani, recently attended a promotional event in Mumbai at a five-star hotel. During an interview with a news portal, Ranbir Kapoor opened up on his father’s drinking habits and a humorous incident that took place between his late father Rishi Kapoor and the doctor.
When asked if his late father had brought movies and work to the dinner table? Ranbir said, Rishi Kapoor used to share his excitement about his films at home, but he also made it clear that he has a life outside of acting. Rishi Ji, according to the actor, never works on Sundays and prefers not to work night shifts in order to spend more time with his family. He drank, ate, and made it a point to spend at least one meal with his family.
Rishi Kapoor, according to the Brahmastra (2022) actor, had a habit of drinking two drinks every night as part of his regular routine. According to Ranbir, Rishi Kapoor was concerned about his routine being disrupted during the early stages of his cancer treatment in the United States. As a result, what he did was extremely amusing. He allegedly deceived his doctor by claiming he couldn't sleep at night and that the only way to get some rest was to consume two drinks instead of taking two sleeping tablets. He later persuaded his wife Neetu Singh that his doctor had ordered him to have three drinks every night.
Meanwhile, in the film Sharmaji Namkeen, iconic actors Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal play the retiring protagonist's coming of age story.
Due to Rishi Kapoor's untimely death, the film's shooting could not be completed, therefore Paresh Rawal stepped in to fill the role. On March 31, 2022, the film was released on Amazon Prime.
