With the action thriller Shamshera, Ranbir Kapoor returns to entertain the audience four years after he delivered the smash hit Sanju (2018). Ahead of the release of the film, Kapoor said that his iconic father Rishi Kapoor would have liked to watch him in and as Shamshera!
Ranbir is upset that his father couldn't watch this front-loaded revenge drama since Rishi always wanted his son to try playing a hero who could connect with people all over the country.
In a recent interview, the Barfi (2012) actor said, “I really wish my father was alive to see this film. He has always been blatantly honest about his criticism if he has liked something or not liked something, especially with my work. So, it’s sad that he’s not going to see it. But I am really excited that I got to do a film like this and I hope that somewhere up there he is looking out for me and he is proud of me.”
Ranbir claims that Shamshera is an effort to address a pan-Indian audience. He added, “Shamshera is a step towards that but the film hasn’t been released yet. I am very anxious to know how people will accept me in this part but I am very excited that I got to play a part like this too.”
On July 22, 2022, the action epic, which is being directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Aditya Chopra, will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
