Ranbir Kapoor makes a special video appearance, for his father Lt. Rishi Kapoor’s last movie Sharmaji Namkeen's trailer is launching! The veteran actor died in April 2020, leaving the film halfway. The film's producer Farhan Akhtar was forced to shut down the film but he wanted this film to be the last remembrance of Rishi Kapoor. Later, actor Paresh Rawal stepped in Rishi Kapoor’s shoes and completed the film.

Rishi Kapoor’s son, actor Ranbir Kapoor talks in a video message on amazon’s Prime Video, regarding the film. In the video message, he speaks as to why the film is so special to him and also reveals that at one stage he even considered using aesthetics to complete the film himself.

In the video, which was posted by producer Farhan Akhtar on social media, Ranbir is seen talking about the film and recalling all the sweet memories of his father Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir says, “ I'm here to share something that makes Sharmaji Namkeen a very special film. This film isn't special for me just because it's papa's last film but papa really believed in the story. I remember when he fell sick in the middle of the shoot, he somehow wanted to complete the shoot but life had other plans.”

He further adds, “ You may have heard 'The show must go on'. Papa lived it. After he left, it felt that the film may not be completed. We thought of trying VFX or I could wear prosthetics and finish this role. But nothing was working out. And that's when Mr. Paresh Rawal stepped in and helped us finish the film.”

He also expresses his gratitude towards Paresh Rawal for stepping in and completing the film as it is very difficult for an actor to do the same role on-screen. Ranbir further adds that this is very rarely seen in any film industry. In the end, he asks everyone to give the same love to Sharmaji Namkeen, his last masterpiece as they did for his earlier films.

Sharmaji Namkeen will be released on Prime Video on 31st March, other than Paresh Rawal and Rishi Kapoor, it also features Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha, and Isha Talwar.
