During a live session for Brahmastra's promotion, Alia Bhatt was addressing why they aren't phailod for promoting their film (doing widespread promotion for the film). Ranbir Kapoor quickly cut Alia mid-sentence and said, "Well, I can say somebody has phailod" about his wife's weight gain, adding that he meant the remark as a joke.
The comment didn't sit well with the public, and Ranbir Kapoor got slammed on Twitter. Netizens blasted the actor and pointed out that it wasn't cool.
At the Chennai press meet of Brahmastra, Ranbir apologized for his comment. He said, "Firstly, I love my wife with everything I have in my life. It's a joke that didn't turn out to be funny. It wasn't my intention. I spoke to Alia about it later, and she laughed it off. My sense of humor falls flat on my face sometimes. I apologize to those who got offended by it."
