Due to unfavourable meteorological circumstances, such as heavy rainfall and above-average temperatures in important growing regions, tomato prices have soared this year. These elements working together have significantly reduced tomato production, which has caused prices to climb rapidly. Although price increases for tomatoes are normal during the months of June and July, when output is at its lowest, this year's spike has been particularly pronounced.
Many people blame the current heatwave in tomato-growing regions, together with recent rains, which have disrupted supply networks, for the dramatic increase in vegetable costs. Furthermore, tomatoes have a limited shelf life, which adds to the price increase.
Rakhi Sawant, a controversial reality TV star, has come under fire for her recent tomato-related antics amid mounting concerns about tomato scarcity. Rakhi may be seen planting full tomatoes rather than simply seeds in a social media video, which some have criticised as being wasteful. Internet users vented their anger, with one writing, "Is she furious or what? People are concerned about the cost and availability of food, and she is wasting food to garner attention.

When the Bombay High Court dismissed the 2006 FIR and chargesheet brought against singer Mika Singh for allegedly forcing her to kiss her, Rakhi made headlines last month. Rakhi agreed to the accusations being dropped, and the court decided in her favour. Mika was accused of grabbing and kissing Rakhi during a restaurant party in the outskirts of Mumbai, which is when the FIR was first filed. Mika was accused of violating Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 354 (molestation) and 323 (assault).
Mika petitioned the High Court in April of this year to overturn the police's first complaint (FIR) and subsequent chargesheet. Rakhi testified in her affidavit that she and Mika had settled their disagreements amicably and the charges had been dropped.
