One of Bollywood's most gifted actors is Radhika Apte. She is currently busy promoting her Netflix-airing movie Monica, O My Darling. Along with Rajkummar Rao and Huma Qureshi, Apte plays the hero in this movie. Apte discussed how she feels the same way about losing commercial roles to younger performers throughout the ongoing film promotions.
Before going into the specifics of what she stated, let's review what Apte said earlier this year that made the news. In an interview with Hindustan Times from 2022, Radhika said, "What I'm genuinely battling with is (being unable) to combat age, especially in the industry with people going through surgeries. Many coworkers have undergone several operations to alter their bodies and features.
When Radhika was recently questioned about getting rejected since the other actors are given more credit, she responded, "There's truth to this, but it becomes sensationalized, and it changes its tone. Undeniably, people prefer younger females in larger commercial productions; they simply prefer a younger or more traditional look. There have been times when you've been informed that you lack something and that it is necessary. The number of procedures performed by people is visible. There is an image that we are pursuing that many women are struggling against, not just in India but all around the world.
The actor expressed the optimism that things will improve in time by saying, "Brands are promoting men and women of all ages and sizes, and it's happening. However, there was a moment when I battled with that, and I know many individuals who do. It's up to you; once people give in, they start doing things to themselves. It's a very vulnerable position, Radhika continued, adding that she has never been in the same situation.
The crime comedy thriller movie Monica, O My Darling, which Vasan Bala directed, was made available on Netflix on November 11 of this year.
