For many years, films have been made in Kashmir's stunning locations. However, theaters in the state were closed down when militancy increased in 1990. Following Inox's September 20 opening of Srinagar's first multiplex, things got better the previous year. On September 18, 2022, at the same time, the districts of Pulwama and Shopian received the opening of Multipurpose Cinema Halls. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. These halls are managed by a firm by the name of Jadooz.

Manoj Sinha opened two additional multipurpose cinema halls yesterday, July 14, one in Baramulla and one in Handwara. These recently opened theaters will likewise be operated by Jadooz and contain a cafe, conference rooms, and seminar facilities, just like the theaters in Pulwama and Shopian. Reports state that each theater has 100 seats.
It has also been revealed that Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Pathaan’ (2023) will be the first movie to screen in these two new theaters.
There are videos available of Manoj Sinha dedicating the Baramulla theater. The former Sherwani Community Hall is now home to this theater. In the videos and photos of the theater's opening, the Pathaan poster may be seen. Along with ‘Pathaan’, posters for Sunny Deol's ‘Gadar 2’ and Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming movie ‘Jawan ‘ are also visible, indicating that these two eagerly anticipated movies would also be shown in movie theaters.
Deepika Padukone and John Abraham were featured in ‘Pathaan’ in addition to Shah Rukh Khan. It is the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time, earning more than Rs. 500 crores domestically and around Rs. 1000 crores internationally.
With the opening of cinemas in Kashmir, the administration hopes to increase the state's leisure options and convey a sense of normalcy following the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019.
