Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, has been the talk of the town since its initial announcement. Mike Tyson, an American former professional boxer and actor, will make his Bollywood debut in the upcoming sports drama film. According to the latest rumors, Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the OTT rights to the highly anticipated film.

According to a recent media portal report, the film was sold to the streaming service for a mammoth amount of ₹65 crore, which is also the highest price ever paid for a South Indian film’s OTT rights.

With such a huge amount being claimed for post-theatrical rights, the release is bound to generate a lot of buzz. The film, directed by Puri Jagannath in Telugu, is about an underdog who rises from the streets of Mumbai to become an MMA fighter, which is set to be released in theatres on August 25, 2022.

One of the most recent Liger promo videos shows the film's MMA set up as well as a look into the life of the fighter, who is known as the "Slumdog of the Streets of Mumbai" and "The Chai Wala." Vijay, who plays the titular character, has been in the news since he began training and preparing for his role in the film.

Makrand Deshpande, Ronit Roy, Ramya Krishnan, and others will also play important roles. Puri Jagannadh, Charmy Kaur, and Karan Johar produce Liger.
