Anubhav Sinha's filmography has evolved since 2018. He was previously recognized for directing music videos and more commercial mainstream productions. Anubhav Sinha has directed films such as ‘Tum Bin’, ‘Dus’, ‘Cash’, ‘Ra.One’, ‘Mulk’, ‘Article 15’, ‘Thappad’, and a few others.
But in a recent film, he apologized to his team colleagues. Sinha apologized to those involved with ‘Anek’ when it failed to attract an audience in the theatres. The political thriller ‘Anek’, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Andrea Kevichusa, was set in the country's northeastern region.

In a recent interview, Sinha stated that only 20% of the audience comprehended what he was trying to portray through his film. "People, in general, didn't comprehend it," he told Sucharita Tyagi, "and it's not their fault; it's my problem." "That is the only film where I have sent texts to each and every crew member apologizing for wasting their effort," he continued.
The filmmaker also said that what was deemed the film's "USP" prior to its release did not function once it was released in theatres. Many people advised him that the north-eastern actors cast in a film set in the region would be the film's big attraction. But it remained a selling point as long as the trailer was on. Nobody could connect with them when the film came out; they didn't cry with them, they didn't understand their anguish," Sinha explained. Anek garnered largely unfavorable reviews from critics at its initial release.
