In keeping with its predecessor's legacy, ‘OMG 2’ has not been without its fair share of pre-release controversies. The film navigates the intricate terrain of sex education in schools, unfolding through the lens of a compelling courtroom drama. A unique twist lies in Akshay Kumar's portrayal of a character seemingly embodying Lord Shiva in human form.

Given the bold and thought-provoking narrative, OMG 2 secured an A certification from the censor board. This rating underscores the film's mature themes, signaling its potential to ignite meaningful discussions. Pankaj Tripathi, a prominent figure in the movie, shared his candid sentiments regarding this classification during a media interaction. He acknowledged his surprise at the A certificate, noting that such decisions often become apparent during filming. Drawing parallels with his experience on "Gangs of Wasseypur," where an A certification was anticipated, Pankaj highlighted the unexpected nature of OMG 2's classification. "Iss film ko A milna, surprise tha humare liye. Thoda malaal hua ki jis age-group ko yeh film dekhni chaiye, 12-18 saal ke, woh nahi dekh payenge (For me it was a surprise. I was a bit disappointed, as the target age group of 12-17 years old won't be able to see the film)."

Nonetheless, he expressed a lack of contention with the board's decision. Pankaj Tripathi remains hopeful that a new category, bridging the gap between U/A and A, might be introduced by the censor board in the future.

The film's trajectory took an interesting turn when spiritual leader Sadhguru took to Twitter to voice his disappointment over the A certification for OMG 2. In a gracious exchange, Akshay Kumar responded with gratitude for the sentiments shared by Sadhguru.
