Although there has been no official confirmation, reports claim that Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will play the key parts in the movie. However, there has been a strong backlash against such initiatives in light of recent controversy surrounding films like 'Adipurush' and the representation of Hindu epics.
Veteran actor Annu Kapoor is one well-known person who has voiced his dissatisfaction. Kapoor was blunt in his critique of Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious endeavour during an interview with an online entertainment news outlet. He questioned Tiwari's qualifications to handle such a delicate matter and the director's credentials.
Given the current sensitivity surrounding religious depictions in films, Kapoor voiced worry that filming a 'Ramayan' movie at this time may be perceived as an affront to the Hindu religion.
Annu Kapoor strongly asked Tiwari to rethink his choice, emphasising that films with religious themes should be addressed with great prudence. He even went so far as to say that the director would suffer serious repercussions if the movie moved forward. Nitesh Tiwari, according to Kapoor, needs more knowledge about the religion in order to accurately portray it on screen.
According to sources, the movie's creators are reportedly preparing for a test shoot in FilmCity to make sure they nail the epic's look and feel. The 'Ramayan' team is doing everything possible to steer clear of any potential controversy because the 'Adipurush' fiasco is still very much in people's thoughts. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's participation in the test shoot, which is scheduled for the month's end, is still unknown as of right now.
