It took some time for the horror theme to grow in Indian films. Before the 1970s, regional industries like Malayalam film experimented with horror. Bollywood, on the other hand, was slow to jump on this trend, making only a few psychological thrillers that looked like horror. This trend started with the Ramsay family, and its fame has only grown since then. Thanks to the work of Vikram Bhatt and Ram Gopal Varma, horror films have not only become more popular, but they have also shown that they can make a lot of money at the box office.

But the highest point of Indian scary films might surprise you. Even though scary films like 'Raaz,' '1920,' and 'Stree' have made a name for themselves, none have made as much money as Kartik Aaryan's 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2'. This amazing movie made a worldwide total of Rs 266 crore, making it one of the most successful Hindi films of 2022.

Anees Bazmee's success as a director not only made more money than Akshay Kumar's 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' in 2007, which made Rs 82 crore, but it also won praise for its skillful direction and outstanding performances, especially from Tabu.

In the history of Indian horror, many films have made more than Rs 50 crore, and a few have even broken the famous Rs 100 crore mark. After 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,' the second-highest earning Indian horror movie is 'Stree,' which has made an impressive Rs 181 crore worldwide. 'Raaz 3' does the same thing, making almost as much money around the world as 'Raaz 2.' Even though 'Bhediya' only made Rs 90 crore, it moved up to the next level.
