Norway Ambassadors React To The Film’s Plot

The film shows the tragedy of an Indian immigrant couple whose two children were removed from their care by the Norwegian foster system in 2011, citing cultural differences. However, the Norwegian Embassy has issued a statement explaining that children are not taken away from their families because of cultural differences such as eating with their hands or sleeping in bed with their parents.

Check out their post:

The Norwegian Ambassador stressed that Norway is a heterogeneous culture that supports and respects various family systems and cultural practices. According to the embassy's statement, children are only placed in alternative care if they are subjected to neglect, aggression, or abuse.

Nevertheless, the embassy has contested the film's premise that the foster system is a profit-driven business, arguing that it is a question of obligation rather than a source of cash. The statement also acknowledged that child welfare matters are complex and difficult for all parties concerned.
