In a recent interview, Sidharth also discussed the similarities between their film and Alia Bhatt's Raazi (2018) and whether or not their movie contributes to the negative stereotypes about Pakistanis in Hindi films. The actor admitted that the similarities between the two movies don't make him feel concerned. " People looking for a reference point for a movie is never a bad thing ", Sidharth Malhotra stated. He continues, "It's a good movie, Raazi. The comparison doesn't seem to be a particularly scary thing. Yes, the elements that are observing the trailer could appear comparable."
According to the makers, the 1970s-set Mission Majnu was "inspired by true occurrences." In it, RAW spy Sidharth Malhotra is seen carrying out India's "deadliest covert operation" in Pakistan. The film, which is directed by Shantanu Bagchi, premiered on Netflix's OTT service on Friday.
