A couple of days ago, we reported that Dharma Productions’ untitled film starring Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, and Siddhant Chaturvedi was headed to a direct-to-digital premiere. The latest update on the same is that the makers have approached both Disney+Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video to premiere the film on the platform.

However, there is no guarantee whether the film, directed by Shakun Batra, will be able to seal a deal with either of the platforms.

A source in the know informs a publication, “Shakun’s film is based on an extra-marital affair. Given this storyline, it features a rather high amount of intimate scenes which might not fit the Disney+Hotstar mandate of family-oriented content. On the other hand, Amazon Prime Video has found itself in the eye of the storm more often than not in the recent past. Keeping this, it remains to be seen which of the two streaming giants agrees to acquire the venture.”

We also hear that the makers were also in talks with Netflix earlier, but things did not fall into place. An official announcement confirming the direct-to-digital release of the high-profile film is highly awaited.
