'Dayavan' was a 1988 film starring the diva as well as Vinod Khanna and Feroz Khan. The film received a lot of attention from viewers because of a daring kissing scene between Madhuri and Vinod Khanna. Such private moments were uncommon in Bollywood during the 1980s, which added to the hype surrounding the film.

Vinod Khanna is said to have become so engrossed in the action that he allegedly continued to kiss Madhuri long after the director ordered a cut, even going so far as to bite her lip. While the incident sparked interest, an old interview revealed Madhuri's thoughts on the scene.

"Looking back, I think I should have just said, 'No, I don't want to do it," Madhuri remarked in the interview as she expressed her sorrow. Then, maybe I became a little intimidated to actually do it. Because I am an actress and the director has envisioned the scene in a specific way, maybe if I didn't execute it, the story would suffer."

She further said that although she knew the scene wasn't crucial for the plot, her lack of prior experience in the movie industry prohibited her from declining the opportunity at the time. Additionally, "I had no knowledge of the industry's operating norms because I did not come from a family with an experience in the film industry. At the time, I was unaware that you might refuse to act in kissing scenes. So I did. But thereafter, when I watched the movie, I questioned why I had done it. The kiss didn't improve the movie in any way. I made the conscious decision to stop performing kissing scenes going forward."

Madhuri's ethical behaviour has further enhanced her charming legacy in the Indian film industry and her everlasting charm.
