Saroj Khan's favorite teamwork with Shah Rukh Khan was composing him in Baazigar's "Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein." According to her, he didn't take his practice sessions seriously at first and ended up practicing every dance routine for nearly an hour on set. Saroj Khan discusses the creation of the iconic Bollywood song, which also starred Kajol, in an old video.
Saroj Ji said “I’ve done ‘Kaali Kaali Aankhein’ the best with Shah Rukh. When we first composed the dance of the song, we asked him to come and rehearse. He told me we’ll do it on set only. But when he arrived on set and saw the dance, he had to practice for 40 minutes to an hour for every step. He labored so hard for the song, he deserves an award for it. But he did his best. He’s the male version of Madhuri Dixit.”
Kumar Sanu and Anu Malik perform "Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein." Shah Rukh has spoken about his anti-hero film role in another making-of video for the song. "For the first time, we haven't placed any restrictions as to where the character of hero will end," he said. The protagonist is a very different kind of hero. It's the first time he's been kept as a regular person rather than a superhero."
Baazigar was first released in 1993. The revenge drama, directed by Abbas-Mustan, is regarded as one of the greatest Bollywood action movies of all time. Shilpa Shetty made her acting debut in the film, which also featured Rakhee, Dalip Tahil, Siddharth Ray, and Johnny Lever.
