Liger teaser: Vijay Deverakonda packs a fierce punch as MMA star

As promised, the makers of the much-awaited action entertainer Liger on Friday dropped the teaser of the film. Packed with thrilling stunt sequences, the teaser shows pan-India star Vijay Deverakonda in the role of an MMA star who rose from the streets of Mumbai and became a force to reckon with in the boxing arena.

In the 53-second-long teaser, an MMA commentator introduces Deverakonda as Liger. “Introducing the boy from India... Slumdog of the streets of Mumbai, the chaiwala... Liger...,” he said in his commentary.

In the entire teaser, Deverakonda mouths only two dialogues that are the major highlights of the video, we would say. The dialogues are: “We are Indians” and “Vaat Lagaa Denge.” The actor impresses with his swift boxing moves and a never-seen-before avatar in the teaser. He has been working on the film for about two years now and has undergone extensive training to perfect his part. His cornrows hairdo with a ponytail makes him look even more dashing, and those six-packs abs are simply magnificent.

Liger is directed by renowned Telugu filmmaker Puri Jagannadh. The Telugu-Hindi bilingual film also sees Ananya Panday in the lead role. While the film marks Deverakonda’s debut in Bollywood, Panday will set her foot in Tollywood with the film. Boxing legend Mike Tyson also plays a pivotal role in the film.

Liger is jointly produced by Puri Jagannadh, Charmee Kaur, and Karan Johar. It is set to hit the marquee on August 25, 2022.
